Form I-765WS is a worksheet to be used by EAD (work permit) applicants that are also filing under one of the following eligibility types:
- Deferred Action
- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
If you are not applying for work permits under one of these 2 eligibility categories, you do not require to complete and file Form I-765WS.
If you do fall into one of these two eligibility classifications, complete Form I-765WS and file it with Form I-765(Application for Employment Authorization). USCIS demands it as a part of your application.

Your current annual income is the total of your gains within the last 12 months. This includes money made in cash. If family members supported you, you should add value to the support amount you received. Scholarships that give you money for educational purposes do not count as income. But, scholarships that provide for living expenditures do consider income.
Besides, money that is gifted to you in a lump sum that you preserve in your savings account is an asset, so you need not show it as your income.
First thing is that it’s not mandatory to provide an explanation of your needs. This is certainly an optional field. USCIS wants to specify whether you have a financial need in order to warrant the issuance of a work permit, AKA Employment Authorization Document (EAD).
